We spent the afternoon in Almere working with Elder Brown and Elder Andrews.
We did a number of call backs--nothing. We did the 2-2-5. President and I would switch working with Elder Brown and Elder Andrews. However, President doesn't just 2-2-5, he starts from the 'call back' address and goes the rest of the way up and down the street and across the street.
He and Elder Andrews ended up finding a man that has truly been prepared. In their conversation at the door, the man told them he had been thinking a lot lately about 'why we are here'. (Interesting isn't it). President told the man there were two companion question that went with that--'where did we come from?' and the man chimed in and said, 'and where do we go after life?'
Elder Brown, Elder Andrews
Elder Brown and Elder Andrews taught him his first lesson on Sunday afternoon, August 5, 2012 at 4:00 pm. Can't wait to hear how it went.
After we left these two Elders, we headed up Lelystad to go to a lesson with Elder Farmer and Elder Shoemaker. Elder Shoemaker and a ward member went our 'finding' and Elder Farmer, President and I went to the lesson. Well, like all missionary work--some times it doesn't work out. Turns out the investigator was not planning on the missionaries, so we went out on 'call backs' and 2-2-5 ing. Great experience, but no one interested. Elder Farmer did a great job testifying. When you are out 'finding' I have learned from great Elders that you have to testify and leave a testimony with them even if they aren't interested--if they give you a chance.
Missionaries are just as cheerful and happy at the end of a day like this as a day when everything goes as planned.
